This Million Dollar Chicken Noodle Casserole Recipe is creamy, cheesy, and packed with flavor. A family favorite comfort dish that’s easy to make and freezer-friendly.
Ingredients
- 4 cups chopped cooked chicken
- 2 (10.5-oz) cans Unsalted Cream of Chicken Soup
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup cottage cheese
- 4 – oz cream cheese, room temperature
- 12– oz egg noodles
- 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ¼ tsp garlic powder
- salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 (2.8-oz) can french fried onions
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Lightly spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray and set it aside.
2. Cook the egg noodles according to the package directions. Drain and set aside.
3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked chopped chicken, cream of chicken soup, cottage cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, onion powder, garlic powder, and the cooked noodles.
4. Mix all ingredients thoroughly until well combined and creamy.
5. Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
6. Top the casserole with crispy French fried onions.
7. Bake uncovered for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the top is golden brown.
8. Remove from oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
– I used rotisserie chicken for convenience, but any cooked chicken works breasts, thighs, or tenderloins.
– You can mix in vegetables like frozen peas, broccoli, spinach, mushrooms, or mixed frozen veggies for added nutrition.
– No French fried onions? Use crushed Ritz crackers or panko bread crumbs mixed with melted butter for a crispy topping.
– Any cream-based soup works well cream of chicken, mushroom, or celery are all great options.
